TN Armed Guard Permit Class, Day 2

Service Description

Day 2 of the TN Armed Guard Permit Initial Training Participation is required! Must add this class in addition to the Day 1 class. Required by the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance to obtain an Armed Security Guard License. This course covers the Tennessee Private Protective Services Law and Rules book and meets or exceeds the minimum guidelines set forth by the state. Over the course of two 8-hour days, you will learn the duties and responsibilities of a Security Officer in TN. We cover the laws pertaining to Security Officers and how they apply to you. You will learn scene management, First Aid, De-escalation, etc. To become certified as an Armed Security Officer for the state of TN, a participant must: • Complete four hours in the classroom covering- o Orientation o Legal powers and limitations of a security guard/officer o Emergency procedures o General duties • Complete eight additional hours in the classroom covering- o Legal limitations on the use of a firearm o Handling of a firearm o Safety and maintenance of firearms • Complete four additional hours on the shooting range- o Marksmanship training / achieve a minimum of 70% on any silhouette target course approved by the commissioner • Be at least 21 years old • Have experience in firearm safety, handling, and use. • Bring an operational quality handgun, in a case. Handgun should be suitable for carrying on duty. It should be a midsized handgun. Highpoint, and a few others are not acceptable. Ruger, S&W, Taurus, Glock, Springfield, Sig Sauer, etc are all acceptable. Acceptable calibers are .32 auto, .380, 38, 9mm, 10mm, .40 cal and .45 cal. Raven, Centerfire only, no rimfire handguns. • Bring at least 50 rounds of full metal jacket ammunition of the same caliber as the handgun you bring. (Factory, new, or reloads are all fine.) Acceptable calibers are .32 auto, .380, 38, 9mm, 10mm, .40 cal and .45 cal. Steel case ammunition will not be permitted on the range. • Bring Eye protection, Ear protection, Level 1 holster, Minimum of 3 magazines (10-round capacity minimum), and Magazine holder, Rugged/Comfortable Clothes and Shoes(NO OPEN TOED SHOES), Notebook and pen. • Please clean your handgun in advance of the course. • Bring a good attitude with safety in mind. Instructor will provide shooting targets.
